Evaluate career options with a personality type inventory

There are a variety of ways to look at personality traits.  The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®  (MBTI) is probably the best known. It uses four scales that yield, when scored and combined, 16 different personality types.  The four scales focus on:

Where you focus your attention:  the outer world of people and things (extroversion) or the inner [...]

Just Been Laid Off?

“Unfortunately,” says Elliott Masie, “my phone rings on a regular basis with the news that one of our learning colleagues has been laid off.” He goes on to write about what he has been sharing with these colleagues. It’s worth reading.

Recently, one of the most competent trainers that I know, with an excellent [...]

Still, most of my friends and colleagues are still working in performance improvement related jobs at high tech companies - equipment trainers, eLearning developers, technical writers, and so on. We can help each other out.

On March 10, the NBC TODAY show co-host Meredith Vieira interviewed two NBC colleagues, including Erin Burnett, regarding the economy. During the course of her comments, Burnett stated:

Four Training Conferences - Discount rate deadline near.

There are several conventions geared for training professionals coming up in the near future. The good news: conventions can be a way to pick up new ideas, to discover new resources, and to take advantage of networking. The downside: conference and travel budgets tend to be lean right now. Still, whether employed, or looking for [...]

How to Keep in Touch

Over the years of teaching the PBET Workshop, I have met over 1600 fantastic people from this industry. Yet today, I find it difficult to contact very many of them. People leave the places they have been working for many reasons: in the past- a better job offer; today- the recession. Yet typically, all I [...]

Will the “Stimulus” law help create new training opportunities?

The short answer is “Yes.”  Over $3.5 billion is aimed at training the adult workforce, not including educational programs.  How long will it take?  That’s anybody’s guess, but I will be watching and reporting on whatever I hear.

At what industries will the money be directed?  An overview:

$2.1 billion of grant funding to states for assorted [...]
