Yesterday, I described how developing a home business can be one way to recession-proof your family. In addition, I tried to point out that many of my colleagues with a training background have a lot to offer this growing industry. Finally, I provided a link to some sample training provided by Mike Klingler of the Renegade Professional.
I haven’t had any comments to the post, but I can easily imagine it was read with some skepticism. Why? Having had a long life of on-and-off association with the network marketing type of home business, I have been a skeptic myself. And, as a professional trainer and instructional designer, I might do things a bit differently from Mike. However, I stand by my assertions in yesterday’s post that his contribution to entrepreneurs is extremely effective.
So today I came across a great collection of stories - true stories of the complete change in business performance resulting from Mike Klingler’s training. (Sure it is PR. Granted.) Still, there are 40+ pages that detail the experience of ten people for whom training made the difference. Some examples:
Charles (Network Marketing Business): “Because of all the past experiences (failures) I had in network marketing… all the techniques I was doing… (my self-esteem was really low!) I really didn’t know if I could build up the strength to do it again. I just didn’t know if I had it in me.” After six months studying with the Klingler lessons and implementing what he had learned, he reports: “Now, I keep a low profile and never talk about money, even though I am frequently asked how much money I make. My answer is always ‘I make a full-time income which is ever increasing and I am able to live off it and not worry about the economy.’ In fact, the bad economy is actually helping my business. I know there are a lot of people who like to plaster out all over the place how much money they make. I don’t do this.”
Dotty (Web Site Design Business): “I was basically going after anybody I felt that needed a website — and it really wasn’t working… I didn’t have a very big online presence which seems weird for somebody with an online business. I was focusing on my local market and nothing was coming… nothing was working well for me.” After applying what she learned from the Renegade Profession lessons, she is no longer chasing after business. She has a different mind-set and strategy; business comes to her. “I’m a little overwhelmed at the moment, but I’ll work through it — and no I’m not turning anybody away. I’ve got what I need right now for my business. At some point I’m going to need to hire an employee… it shouldn’t be too far into the future.”
Again, please understand my two reasons for telling you about all this:
- For many high tech trainers, a home business is the answer to recession-proofing. It may be your answer. But getting training like that which Mike Klingler provides can improve your chances of success.
- Once you receive training about the strategies that Klingler teaches, you may find yourself in yet another business - a business trainer or coach. Surprisingly, Klingler is not afraid of competition. He constantly encourages his students to go out and train others.
