There are several conventions geared for training professionals coming up in the near future. The good news: conventions can be a way to pick up new ideas, to discover new resources, and to take advantage of networking. The downside: conference and travel budgets tend to be lean right now. Still, whether employed, or looking for new employment, conventions can be valuable opportunities.
THE Performance Improvement Conference, sponsored by the International Society for Performance Improvement, is coming up really soon. A very engaging program is planned and worth checking out - April 19-22, 2009 at Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, FL. [The early registration discount period has passed.]
Distance Learning - for some of us, this would be a different viewpoint, a different starting point, on blended learning. Consider: The United States Distance Learning Association National Conference, April 26-29, 2009 in St. Louis, MO. [Current registration rate increases on March 15.]
The eLearning Development Convention might be the best value for your dollar. There are over 70 sessions on eLearning and related topics. The conference is conducted during June 17-19, 2009 on the campus of the University of Utah (Salt Lake City) with inexpensive dormitory housing available. [Current registration rate increases after March 16.]
At the ASTD Annual Spring Conference you can expect to mingle with individuals from the widest range of “training” interests (only some of whom will be technical trainers). The conference will offer many focus tracks including “E-Learning,” “Measurement, Evaluation, ROI,” and “Personal & Professional Development.” This may be a good convention to attend if you are looking at training-related employment opportunities outside of the semiconductor industry. It will be during May 31-June 3, 2009 in Washington, DC. [Registration rate increases after March 31, 2009.]
